So You Want A Dredd Sequel?
By Dr. Know on March 8th, 2015
When Dredd hit movie screens back in 2012 fandom raved about the flick, hailing it as the Judge Dredd movie we’d all been waiting for. Although fanboys worldwide adored the actioner, the movie failed to make a crossover to the mainstream, pulling in a paltry $35 million and change at the global box office.
Despite its anemic returns on its initial release, Dredd found an audience on DVD, Blu-ray and, of course, Netflix. Pretty much everyone that’s seen the movie has loved it. Some fans have even gone so far as to create an online petition, soliciting production for a Dredd sequel. Problem is, when it comes to getting the funds from the ivory towers in Hollywood things are often easier said than done. Dredd producer Adi Shankar knows this better than most.
If you click that player Shankar, who unapologetically dresses like Eric Draven from The Crow, lets us on not only the world of film financing but also the possibility of casting someone like Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson alongside Karl Urban as Judge Dredd.
