Star Wars: Episode VII Takes Place 30 Years After ROTJ

Walt Disney Pictures and Lucasfilm today revealed Star Wars: Episode VII will begin production at London’sPinewood Studios this May. Into the bargain, they’ve confirmed he sequel will be set 30 years after the events of Return of the Jedi and that the storyline follows “a trio of new young leads along with some very familiar faces.”

The film’s official cast is expected to be announced shortly with Girls star Adam Driver rumored to play the film’s Darth Vader-like villain.

Directed by J.J. Abrams and written by Abrams, Lawrence Kasdan and Michael Arndt, Star Wars: Episode VII is rumored to include appearances by Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher and Harrison Ford in older incarnations of their beloved characters from the original Star Wars trilogy.

Star Wars: Episode VII is scheduled for December 18, 2015.
