Sinister Six Officially Announced!

By Dr. Know on July 24th, 2014

Sony has officially announced the Spider-Man spinoff- The Sinister Six, boils and ghouls! The flick is scheduled to make its theatrical bow on June 10, 2016. This move will push back The Amazing Spider-Man to May 4, 2018.

For a while it looked like this movie wasn’t even going to happen, especially with the less-than-expected returns on The Amazing Spider-Man 2.  Of cours, nothing is known about the plot at this point other than the fact the movie will feature the six high-profile villains in the Spidey Universe. What ones those will be is also a mystery since there have been a few iterations of this motley crew over the years.

Apparently, Sony is so jazzed by writer-director Drew Goddard’s (The Cabin in the Woods) pitch, they gave the go-ahead almost immediately.

“With Sinister Six in the hands of writer-director Drew Goddard, we feel extremely confident placing the film on a prime date in 2016,” said Doug Belgrad, president of Sony Pictures Entertainment Motion Picture Group.

First introduced in 1964, the original Six members were Electro, Doctor Octopus, Kraven the Hunter, Mysterio, Vulture and Sandman. Electro, portrayed by Jamie Foxx, was already introduced in Sony’s The Amazing Spider-Man 2 this summer.
