Palmer’s Point Break

The babe-o-licios Teresa Palmer is set to take on the female lead in Alcon Entertainment’s needless rehash of Point Break.

The remake is set to take place in the world of extreme sports, so I guess that nixes any philosophical zen-like qualities it might have.

Ericson Core (Invincible) is directing.

Kurt Wimmer, screenwriter of Law Abiding Citizen, penned the new movie (he’s a pretty good screenwriter in my view), so this remake might actually have a chance at being decent provided the powers that be don’t piss all over his work.

Wimmer, Michael De Luca, Broderick Johnson, John Baldecchi, Andrew A. Kosove and Chris Taylor are producing.

Released in 1991 – and directed by Kathryn Bigelow long before she was an Oscar darling with The Hurt Locker and Zero Dark Thirty – Point Break revolved around an FBI agent (Keanu Reeves) infiltrating a band of bank-robbing zen-ish surfers lead by the late (and Roadhouse-great) Patick Swayze.
