Orci In Director’s Chair On Star Trek III

By Drax Largo on May 14th, 2014

It’s official: Paramount announced today, after weeks of speculation, that they’ve tapped Roberto Orci to direct Paramount and Skydance’s still-untitled Star Trek 3.

Orci, also a co-screenwriter and producer on Star Trek and Star Trek Into Darkness, is currently writing the script with J.D. Payne and Patrick McKay. Orci is, of course, stepping into replace J.J. Abrams because he’s clearly too busy directing Star Wars: Episode VII.

Plot details are unknown at present but all principal cast members from the past two films are expected to reprise their roles. J.J. Abrams, however, is still supervising as a producer along with his producing partner Bryan Burke and Skydance’s David Ellison.

As of press time, a release date hasn’t been set for the threequel.
