London Has Fallen Gets A New Director

Babak Najafi is in talks to replace Fredrik Bond in the director’s chair for London Has Fallen, the sequel to the 2013 action hit Olympus Has Fallen.
If Najafi gets the gig he follows the aforementioned Bond – who left due to the size of the project – and Olympus Has Fallen director, Antoine Fuqua. He bailed on the sequel because he didn’t care for the direction of the script.
The plot for the follow-up allegedly revolves around the British Prime Minister’s funeral in London, with our hero Mike Banning (Gerard Butler) discovering a plot to assassinate all the attending world leaders.
In case you missed it, the first movie revolved around the White House being attacked by by a terrorist mastermind and the President being held hostage. With that, a disgraced former Secret Service agent, Mike Banning (Butler), finds himself trapped within the building. As national security scrambles to respond, they are forced to rely on Banning’s inside knowledge to help retake the White House, save the President, and avert an even bigger global crisis.
Creighton Rothenberger and Katrin Benedikt, screenwriters of Olympus Has Fallen, also penned the sequel.
London Has Fallen is scheduled for release October 2, 2015.
