Jupiter Ascending Delayed

By Drax Largo on June 4th, 2014

Originally scheduled for July 25th, the Lana and Andy Wachowski sci-fi epic, Jupiter Ascending, has now been shifted to February 6, 2015 by Warner Bros. The extensive visual effects required to complete the film are being cited as the culprit.

“With the July release date, they were just not going to make it on time,” Domestic Distribution Chief Dan Fellman added. “A lot of the issue for us was getting it ready for the international release, since the foreign territories need additional time.”

Apparently, the Wachowskis needed more time to complete their work on more than 2,000 special effects shots in the film.

Like most of their projects (including The Matrix trilogy before it became a phenomenon), things have been kepy under lock and key until now. The story concerns a universe where humans are near the bottom of the evolutionary ladder. In the this brave new world a young destitute human woman is targeted for assassination by the Queen of the Universe because her very existence threatens to end the Queen’s reign.

Channing Tatum, Mila Kunis, Sean Bean, Eddie Redmayne and Douglas Booth star.

Lana and Andy Wachowski direct.

Once more for the cheap seats, Jupiter Ascending is set for release February 6, 2015.

Here’s the full-length trailer in case you missed it upon release.
