Hercules: New Poster & Trailer

By Drax Largo on March 25th, 2014

A new poster and trailer for Hercules have arrived today. And like most retreads, both are pretty lackluster. So far, everything about this movie points to me putting it on my “Must Miss” list for 2014.

Dwayne ” The Rock” Johnson is set to star as the mythological hero; however this time, the take on the icon will be based on Radical Comics’ graphic novel Hercules: The Thracian Wars by Steve Moore and Admira Wijaya.

Brett Ratner is set to direct from a script by Ryan Condol.

This take on Herc is a lot darker than most, however. It paints Hercules as a mercenary who turned his back on the gods following the loss of his family, “finding solace only in battle.” He joins up with six other bloodthirsty goons, and the band of warriors are hired by the King of Thrace to train his men into warriors.

MGM’s Roger Birnbaum, Gary Barber and Jonathan Glickman will produce with Peter Berg and his Film 44 partner Sarah Aubrey, as well as Barry Levine of Radical Pictures, whose Jesse Berger will executive produce.

Look for Hercules in theaters July 25, 2014.
