Deadpool Filming In March??

By Dr. Know on January 20th, 2015

Global News is reporting the long-in-development Deadpool movie is set to get the cameras rolling in late March, with Ryan Reynolds set to take on the title character.

News of Reynolds playing the role is nothing new to crow about, but the supposed production start is. If this report is accurate I’m curious about which actors will fill out the supporting cast. Moreover, will Fox have some balls and allow the filmmakers to create a hard R-rated flick, or will they pussy out and go for a generic PG-13?

Reynolds, I’m sure most of you know, has played Wade Wilson, aka Deadpool, before in the much-maligned X-Men Origins: Wolverine. Most will agree his portrayal of the character was one of the few bright spots even if the filmmakers bastardized the character otherwise.

For those of you unacquainted with this wise-ass merc, Deadpool  is a smart-mouthed mercenary with terminal cancer who undergoes military experiments in an attempt to replicate Wolverine’s mutant healing factor. He gains an accelerated healing factor, but he winds up horribly disfigured. Hence the mask. Furthermore, the character often breaks the fourth wall (he speaks to his audience often, well aware he’s a character in a comic book).

VFX whiz Tim Miller is set to make his directorial debut from a script by Zombieland writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick.

At the moment, Deadpool is scheduleD for February 12, 2016.
