Constantine: TV Series Trailer

Here’s your first look at NBC’s take on Constantine. Click it below now.

Matt Ryan plays the TV version of John Constantine. Looks like a dead ringer, methinks. The only thing that seems to be missing is his smoking habit (not surprised the network nixed that).

Neil Marshall (The Descent, Doomsday) is directing the pilot episode from a script by executive producers David S. Goyer (Man of Steel) and Daniel Cerone (The Mentalist). It’s believed the new series will use the character’s “New 52″ series as its basis.

If you’re not familiar with the Hellblazer comics, they center on John Constantine, an enigmatic and irreverent British con man-turned-reluctant supernatural detective  who’s literally been to hell and back. In short, he defends the world from dark forces from beyond. The character first appeared in 1985 as a recurring character in the horror series The Saga Of The Swamp Thing. He was created by Alan Moore, Steve Bissette and Jamie Delano.

Keanu Reeves played the American facsimile in the 2005 feature Constantine. Furthermore, John Constantine is rumored to be featured in the Justice League Dark feature Warner Bros. has in the works with Guillermo del Toro.

Constantine airs this fall on NBC.
