Cabin Fever Remake?
By Dr. Know on October 20th, 2014
God, let it end!!!!
The latest entry in a long list of redundant remakes is now Cabin Fever (yes, that’s right!)! Despite the fact that the sequels have all laid eggs the powers-that-be still think this idea is worth exploiting. To boot, a member of those said powers include Eli Roth himself – writer/director of the original Cabin Fever back in 2002.
It seems this rehash will be using Roth’s original script (co-written with Randy Pearlstein) and it will be directed by Travis Zariwny, production designer on films like Behind the Mask: The Rise of Leslie Vernon and Chillerama.
“Travis had an amazing vision for my original script,” Roth said in an issued statement, “and as a scary movie fan I really wanted to see it. I almost see this like restaging a play, and I’m excited to see what ideas Travis and the cast bring to it. They’re all fans of the original and want to make a film that’s a new classic, and I believe they will.”
Eli Roth will executive produce along with Cassian Elwes, Ike Suri, Jaclyn Ann Suri and Peter Fruchtman.
The new batch of viral victims will star Gage Golightly, Dustin Ingram, Samuel Davis, Matthew Daddario and Nadine Crocker.
The original Cabin Fever revolved around group of five college grads renting a cabin in the woods and then falling victim to a horrifying flesh-eating virus. The ensuing fallout involved an escalating level of death, dismemberment and mayhem which hadn’t been seen since the heyday of ’80s splatter films.
Shooting on this needless remake is already underway in Portland, Oregon.
