Baccarin Joins Deadpool
By Drax Largo on February 18th, 2015
Morena Baccarin (Serenity, V) has nabbed the female lead in Fox’s big-screen version of Deadpool. Details on the specifics of her role are being kept under wraps at the moment, but word is she’ll be the obligatory love interest.
Baccarin joins a supporting cast already including T.J. Miller (Transformers: Age of Extinction) and Gina Carano (Haywire). Ryan Reynolds is, of course, playing the title role.
For those of you not in the comic book-know, Deadpool is a smart-mouthed mercenary with terminal cancer who undergoes military experiments in an attempt to replicate Wolverine’s mutant healing factor. He gains an accelerated healing factor, but he winds up horribly disfigured. Hence the mask. Furthermore, the character often breaks the fourth wall (he speaks to his audience often, well aware he’s a character in a comic book).
Cameras get rolling next month, with release scheduled for February 12, 2016.
