Amber Heard Joining Aquaman?

By Drax Largo on January 13th, 2016

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Amber Heard is in talks to join Aquaman. She’ll supposedly take on the female lead of Mera, the love interest of Aquaman and eventual queen of Atlantis.

Jason Momoa is already on board as the title character, with James Wan (The Conjuring 2) set to helm.

The project is currently on a dual track development, meaning tthere are two separate scripts that are being worked on concurrently. One is being written by David Leslie Johnson – Wan’s screenwriter on The Conjuring 2 - while the other is being penned by Kurt Johnstad (300).

Usually in a case like this a third writer will eventually be brought on to do a Frankenstein draft, mining the best elements of both scripts to create the final shooting script (not always a cohesive film doing this).

Whether or not Heard – should her deal go through – shows up in the proposed Justice League movie remains to be seen.

Presently, Aquaman is scheduled to hit theatres July 27, 2018.
